When can you make changes?

Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 – December 7

Each year, eligible people can make certain Medicare Advantage and Part D changes for coverage generally starting January 1.

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 – March 31

People already enrolled in Medicare Advantage may have limited opportunities to switch MA plans or return to Original Medicare. This is not a general enrollment period for everyone.

Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs)

Some circumstances—such as moving, losing qualifying coverage, or certain changes in assistance eligibility—may permit changes outside regular enrollment. Eligibility and permitted changes depend on the specific situation.

Has something changed? Don't assume that a new doctor, prescription, or preference automatically creates a Special Enrollment Period. Ask for a case-specific review or check official Medicare enrollment guidance.
